The proposal for a nuclear waste repository for South Australia - Eastwood R.C will be joining us

 - Kyra Reznikov, who has degrees in both law and engineering, is Head of Environment, Climate Change and Planning, for Finlaysons Lawyers of Adelaide.  In March 2015, the South Australian Government established the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal Commission to undertake an independent and comprehensive investigation into the potential for increasing South Australia’s participation in the nuclear fuel cycle. One of the Royal Commission’s key findings was that a very significant economic benefit could be gained from operating a permanent repository in South Australia for international high level nuclear waste.  Following the release of the Royal Commission’s tentative findings in February 2016, the Committee for Adelaide organised a study tour for interested South Australian parliamentarians and business leaders to go to Finland, France and the United Kingdom to see how those countries had gone about developing their own domestic high level waste repositories.  Kyra's participation in this tour, along with her own professional expertise, gives her a special insight into the benefits and risks of the SA proposal along with why and how it seems at present to be languishing by the wayside.
