We're so excited to announce that our Corks, Kegs & Coins Beer, and Wine Tasting Event will be in-person this year on Saturday, October 1st, at the Mill Pavilion on North Cove Park. Like years past, we will offer an online Silent Auction during the week prior to our in-person event that will end during the in-person event. All bidding for the Silent Auction items will be online so those at home can bid with those attending the in-person event. Bidding on our Live Auction items will only be available to those attending the in-person event due to Washington's Liquor Control Board rules.

In 2006, two members of our Club decided to drive Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica, California. Driving the TR 4 was John Morrison with Loren Hole as his passenger, they left Lake Stevens enroute to Chicago. On the route, stops in Missoula, Montana to fix an oil leak were required. From there to Deadwood, South Dakota and when they arrived in Chicago, the first stop was at Lew Mitchell's Famous diner which was the starting point of their Route 66 excursion.
Some of the sites along the Route 66 trip. Loren was interviewed in 2006 by the Everett Herald. Loren was 81 years old when he made the trip with John. The TR4 was bought when John was 22 years old. He got married at 28, still married and still drives the TR4 when he's here in the summertime and at home in Rio Rico, Arizona. John is a member of the Rotary Club of Rio Rico. Joining us for the presentation was Sam Bryce a former member of our Club, during the 2006 trip when John and Loren gave the same presentation. This iwa the 3rd presentation on their historic trip.
This past weekend, the NFL and football season was upon us. One member is ready for the Seahawk season to start on Monday Night Football against Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos. Where's your Seahawk MASK?
Don Iverson, President-Elect ran the meeting on a couple Friday's ago and updated the members on the Corks, Kegs & Coins Fundraiser. Don started the discussion by showing the layout of the Mill and a diagram of the event with an outside foyer available for adult guests to sit and enjoy wine or beer. We have retained the services of an Auctioneer Paul Rogers. Challenges with the sound system were debated and questions arose about the State's requirements, but it is under control according to Don.
Club members are reminded to push Coin Quest ticket sales, bring a Silent Auction or two items, two bottles of wine and 2 large bottles of beer. Deadline for submitting Silent Auction items is two weeks before Oct. 1st event. Silent Auction will be available at Greater Giving one week prior to the event.
Our newest member, Steve Alexander, gave his Classification Talk during last Friday meeting. Steve works for a company called Smart Cremation and his classification is Funeral Director. Nine years ago, his mother-in-law passed away. His mother-in-law had 4 daughters and had no plans in place when she died. There weren't any discussions about what to do when his mother-in-law died. Misunderstanding about the cost involved and cremation followed.
Steve was originally from Washington DC. Steve was a member of Rotary about 30 years ago. Moved to this area in 2004. Rented a house for four months before buying a home. Steve enjoys remodeling houses. He remodeled a house in Granite Falls that was over 6,300 sq. ft. and was a complete shell. As he recounts his story, he bought the view and got the house for free. He remodeled the house and enjoyed every minute of it.
Interact is a service club for youth ages 14-18. The name is a combination of the words international and action. We join Clubs in over 120 countries around the world. The global youth network is dedicated to community and international service. Every Interact Club project, great or small, has a lasting impact on society worldwide.

Our regular Rotary Club Meetings are at the Lake Stevens School District Educational Service Center lower level Community Room located at 12309 22nd St NE. We start at 7:30 am. Click here for the online link. There will not be any breakfast served. However, coffee will be available. Visitors are always welcome.
