Dementia: Up Close and Personal

Ellen Samson is a Geriatric Care Manager with extensive training and experience in Senior Care Management and Dementia Care. She trained under Teepa Snow, one of America's leading educators in Dementia studying Positive Physical Approach to Care. She is currently the CEO of American Geriatric Care Management, a licensed Home Care Organization and full-service care management company. Ellen has been a senior care advocate and family dynamics support coach for more than eight years helping seniors and their families all over California. Ellen is the President of the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Los Angeles, currently a board member of the Roaring 90's Club, a social club for senior aged 90 and above and Founder/ President of the Filipino American Caregiving Association.
Her trademark workshop Dementia: Up Close and Personal (Preserving family relationships at the onset of Dementia) have been very well attended giving a significant difference in the lives of the participants.

City of Carson Autism Awareness Day & 5K Run/Walk 2018

The City of Carson will be holding its annual Autism Awareness 5K on April 7, 2018. Please come to learn about how the event got started, as well as its challenges and successes, and how it positively impacts the community. Eileen Malumaleumu is the Assistant program Coordinator for the City of Carson Therapeutic Recreation program. She was employed by the City of Carson part-time from 1992-2001 and began working in the Therapeutic Recreation program (formerly: Special Needs Program) in 1995. In 2001 Eileen became the full-time Assistant Coordinator of the program, which is the position she holds at present. The Therapeutic Recreation program is designed to meet the recreational, social, and physical needs of individuals with disabilities. Their activities and events have an emphasis on quality programming, inclusion, and skill building. The annual Autism Awareness Day is one event that the Therapeutic Recreation program provides to the community. |

Dennis is a four year navy veteran, a retired postal worker and a motivational inspirational speaker. He visited the Philippines, Okinawa, Hong Kong, Korea, and Guam during his service. Denns a member of Toastmasters, a national speakers academy and is studying metaphysics at a philosophical organization. Dennis has learned throughout his careers that positive thoughts lead to positive results and negative thoughts lead to negative results. He will be discussing five ways that our thoughts come into existence, as well as techniques and information on how to fulfill our goals and how to replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts. |

Dr. Kelly Campbell is an Associate Professor of Psychology at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). Her research examines couple relationships and friendships including instant connections, love, infidelity, and deceptive online romance (known as catfishing). She teaches courses on intimate relationships, families, parenting, positive psychology, personality, and race and racism. Dr. Campbell directs the Psychology Honors program, serves as the Associate Director for the Institute for Child Development and Family Relations, directs a South Africa study abroad program, blogs for Psychology Today, and hosts a radio show called, “Let’s Talk Relationships.”Dr. Campbell’s research has been featured on NBC television, CBS radio, NPR, TMZ radio, Sirius XM Radio, and in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Men's Health, Women's Health, Cosmopolitan, SELF, and The Huffington Post. |

Julio Barrenzuela is a Los Angeles based motivational speaker who specializes in using Latin music and dance to help participants gain a better understanding of themselves and of one's relationship with the larger community. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served overseas as a Chaplain's Assistant. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and a Master's degree in Media for social justice from Woodbury University in Burbank, California. Julio is best known around the country as the "Salsa Ambassador" for his commitment to promoting the benefits of having a "Salsa Night" in the community and for insurang that all people have at least one opportunity in their lives to Salsa "as they're able." |

What's New in the World of Owner-Occupied Commercial Lending

Randy Jones is Business Development Officer and Senior Vice President with Spectrum Lending, based out of Irvine. Spectrum Commercial does mostly owner-user lending, and specializes in SBA 504 loans, that provides up to 90% financing. Randy joined Spectrum in 2011, and his market concentration is Long Beach, the South Bay and the West Side.
Before joining Spectrum Commercial, Randy was an SVP with Bank of America in the same capacity for 14 years.
He is a graduate of Kent State University and Case Western Reserve University, both in Ohio.
Randy enjoys real estate investing and working out in his spare time, as well as international traveling. He has been to 15 countries. |
