Rotary Clubs of Oakville Education Awards

Oakville, Ont. May 29, 2012 – The three Oakville Rotary Clubs co-presented this year’s Oakville Education Awards at the annual awards dinner held Monday, May 28th, 2012 at Otello’s Banquet Hall.  Forty graduating high school students received scholarships and bursaries in support of their post-secondary education from the three local service clubs.    Rotary’s Annual Education Awards are dedicated to assisting local high school students in their endeavours to attain post-secondary education.  A total of 40 bursaries and scholarships were distributed to Oakville’s graduating students from both the Halton Public and Catholic District School Boards.

Wayne Snyder, President of the Rotary Club of Oakville (RCO), host club of this year’s event, was pleased to announce that the 2012 awards was a record setting year.

“Forty awards is a record for the three clubs.  In order to attain such heights, all three clubs have had success at fundraising through special events. A few fundraisers that help support our youth initiatives include the Annual RCO Golf Event & Million Dollar Hole-In-One Competition, the Oakville Charity Dragon Boat Festival by the Rotary Club of Oakville Trafalgar and the Oakville Awards for Business Excellence, an initiative of the Rotary Club of Oakville West.  Giving back to the community and particularly the deserving and talented youth here tonight would not be possible without our many sponsors and public support of Rotary special events,” said Snyder.

“On behalf of all three clubs, we are delighted to assist Oakville students in attaining their educational pursuits and becoming the future leaders of our community,” he added.
