Our next major Community Service hands on project is taking place on Saturday, June 21 from 8am onward with Fellowship to follow as voted on by the members at the last meeting. This is your chance to roll up your sleeves, break a sweat and help improve our community with the beautification of our signature park.
I'm looking for members who would be able to volunteer materials and/or services for the following areas:
- Lumber to repair missing slats from benches and tables (donated material needed)
- Basketball hoop netting (donated material needed)
- Professional services for removing basketball court area (services needed)
- Paint and painting supplies for paint touch-ups on benches, tables and building structures (checking on inventory levels from last year)
- Sand for topping up around swing set and playground (donated material needed)
Members with the following skills would be greatly appreciated or members looking to acquire these skills will benefit with some hands-on experience at this event:
- Painters for touching up building structures, benches, and picnic tables (brushes and paint will be supplied)
- Gardeners for tree trimming and scrub pruning (bring what tools you have)
- Light Carpenters/Handy Man types for cutting lumber and fixing weak or broken slats on benches and picnic tables (saw, screws, tape measure and tools will be supplied)
- Sand Distributors for play ground area (sand will be supplied but shovels are welcomed)
- General help for garbage pickup, gardening cuttings and leaf collection (gloves and garbage bags will be supplied)
- Cooking help for Barbecue Fellowship (food preparation and cooking - utensils will be supplied)
- Photographer to capture all the moments (must have your own camera)
A task sheet will be circulating on Wednesday for sign-up to these tasks and other duties. Please ensure you sign up so we can plan for proper numbers and ensure there is food for everyone.
