Who’s That Lady?

Nikita Durrant is an 18 year old graduate of  Wesleyan Christian Academy in West Bay. She was elected President of the Rotary Sunrise sponsored Junior Achievement company – Tropical Impressions. The company made several innovative products such as Christmas cards with an island theme, spa and candy kits.

At the annual Junior Achievers ball held in May 2010, Nikita won the salesperson of the year (out of about 200 junior achievers) having single-handedly sold $1,500 worth of products for her company. She was also chosen to be one of the 8 junior achievers who will represent Cayman Islands in Canada at the jaXchange 2010. The jaXchange 2010 – International Youth Leadership Conference is a one-week international forum designed to further educate young people about business, and to provide an opportunity to reward and recognize outstanding performance while encouraging even greater future accomplishment.

At school, Nikita excelled as well and on graduation day she was valedictorian and consequently the final speaker at the graduation ceremony which was attended by Rotarians Mike, Deborah and James. In May, Nikita was selected from her school to compete in the International Student Convention in Kentucky in the USA. This competition brings students from around the world together on a university campus to compete in over 300 different events, categorized in academics, art, photography, needle/thread, athletics, music and platform. The following Rotarians helped sponsor her trip Mike Levitt, Dawn Cummings, Geoff Mathews, Winston Connolly, James Chiweshe, David Reid, Mark Macfee, and Howard Cross.

Her ambition at the moment rests in the world of Accounting. Nikita is an intelligent, caring and loving young lady, who always seeking answers to her never ending questions; she is always eager to learn new things and always ready to help others in whatever way needed – Future Rotarian perhaps?
