Theft Brings Terror and Togetherness

   The thoughts of every Rotarian and every friend of Rotary Sunrise go out to our friend and colleague whose family was traumatized by last Saturday's home invasion.  It is only out of journalistic prudence and personal caution that we are not listing our friend's name here.  He and his family know how deeply we appreciate his work and how much our hearts ache for what they have had to endure.  On his behalf, we again urge anyone with any relevent thoughts or insight to contact RCIPS Detective Marcia Myles at 525-8303.

   Rotary Sunrise will almost certainly recoup the small percentage of total raffle proceeds that were taken last weekend, either through capture of the crooks or pledges that have already been made by good people with Rotary connections.  While three terrible people stole some innocence along with some cash, their deeds will be more than offset by Rotarians and friends who will continue to engage in wonderful works that raise funds, awareness and spirits.

   Bad people have targeted non-profits and charities before and will do so again.  We will examine our practices, but we will not let this incident deter us from helping others who face adversity, even when faced with some of our own.

   Again, to our shaken but solid friend: we thank God your family is safe, and we thank you on behalf of a grateful club and community.
