Spotts Newlands Community Park Shows Progress
With paintbrushes and rollers in hand, a hearty band of helpers answered Rotarian Claude’s call to action on July 10th. Mind you, not the 7 a.m. call to action that he had originally made at the July 7th weekly meeting. Instead it was a more civilized 9 a.m. rendezvous to beautify the community park that is rapidly moving from blueprint to reality.
Besides the “hands-on” need for painters and tree planters, there remains an urgent need for cash donations that will be commemorated with plaques for the more generous patrons who are able to contribute $150, $500, $750 or more to help pay for such things as paving and recreational equipment as the remaining cost to complete this project is $35,000. Rotarian David Watler reminds us, “This is the best park on the island with free Wi-Fi, basketball, swing sets, BBQ, native trees, and security.”
