Message from President Winston

We will also aim to foster closer relationships with our sister Clubs which will include participating in joint projects and social activities.  We also want to work with the other service clubs on the island to ensure that we use our collective efforts wisely and efficiently.   We will also participate as a Club on various district projects and try to raise our annual giving to the permanent fund of Rotary International.

 

Mother Teresa once said it is not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.  I challenge every Rotarian to love what they do and to show it through their enthusiasm, their efforts and their participation in their Club's activities this upcoming Rotary year.

 

I also challenge all the officers and directors to make a difference this year and to leave Sunrise in better shape than when we formally start our year as the 2009-10 Board on 1 July 2009.

 

We have an amazing amount of Rotary knowledge amongst our members and we need to start tapping into that knowledge.  This year we are starting a Past President's Council which will meet throughout the year and give guidance and advice to the Club.

 

There are new and exciting things ahead for us.  We have adopted the new Rotary International Board structure and this will streamline projects and make them more efficient.  It should also make each director's role a little less strenuous.  We will introduce a year calendar to allow members to plan their year better.  We are also excited about a new point system we are putting in place for 2009-10.  It has already been well received at district level.  There are so many more things to look forward to and we will endeavour to make all of them a reality.

 

I would like to also take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped make Rotary Sunrise the  great Club it is and since its charter on April 18 2002.  We now have to continue the great work done over the past 7 years - most recently under the calm guidance of immediate Past President, Woody Foster.

 

Rotary cannot and could not work without the dedicated efforts of its members.  We will strive to keep members motivated throughout the year with a number of exciting projects and events.

 

It humbles me greatly to be your President for the next year and i hope with your support to have a busy but fun-filled year - with a major emphasis on fun!

 

I truly believe that if we help improve our Club, we will help improve our local community and our international community in turn.  Please work with me this year to continue this Club's great traditions.  We can do amazing things but those things must begin at home.
