Another Volunteer Opportunity: Assist Future Entrepreneurs

Volunteers are now being sought for a new school year of Junior Achievement programs. JA’s mission is “to ensure that every child has a fundamental understanding of the free enterprise system by educating and inspiring young people to value free enterprise, business, and economics in order to improve the quality of their lives.”

The programs run from October to March, usually on Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm, with teams of 20-30 high school students being taught the leadership and entrepreneurial skills needed to run their own company. (The amount of volunteer time required becomes more flexible as more volunteers take part.) Rotarian David Reid says advisors also get a great education by helping the students experience “every aspect of a basic business, from start-up to liquidation and exposure to all of the disciplines such as sales, marketing, production, finance, human resources and more.
