Re: Recycling Bin Project

Please see information below in regards to an opportunity to express your artistic talent while assisting with island recycling.  Please address any questions to the organizer, Catherine Childs. 
 
I'm organizing an Earth Day festival to be held at Camana Bay this year on Wednesday, April 27th.  In honor of Earth day and as part of the festival I've created a recycling bin project.  Tortuga Rum has agreed to donate their wooden barrels, I'll give them to local artists to paint in an Earth Day/natural Cayman theme, they'll be on display at the festival, and then we'll distribute them around the island to be used as recycling bins for aluminum cans.  The Department of Environmental Health has even agreed to regularly pick up the cans for recycling.  We'll concentrate on high visibility locations such as the Waterfront to increase recycling rates as well as Cayman's green image with our visitors.  Every year we'll pick up the barrels and give them back to the artists (if they still want to participate) to re-do or touch-up, display them at the festival again next year, and in that way keep them maintained and beautiful.  Everything is organized except the artists!  Could you please pass this on to artists you think may want to participate?  I could get the barrel to them immediately and they'd have until mid-April to complete it.  Thanks so much for your help.
