The International Service Committee is currently planning a trip to the Guaruma project in Honduras. On this visit, Dr. Mani will be continuing his eye examination clinic/followup and Dr. Uli Ecke has kindly offered to examine residents of the surrounding community for any ENT issues. Also committed to the trip are Dr. John Lee (pain management), Dr. Rachael Curtis (dentist) and Dr. Pavlov Rameau (who will be on hand to assist with any mathematical issues). We are encouraging any Sunrise Rotarian (and significant other) with an interest in assisting the doctors and/or visiting a project that Rotary Sunrise has supported for many years, to join us.
DETAILS:
Date: dep Friday, September 26, 2014 (1:00 pm) - ret Monday, September 29, 2014 (4:30 pm)
Transportation: Cayman Airways - price US$261.00 return
Accommodations: Please contact Pat Steward for details - prices range from US $75.00 - $150.00 per night per room - depending on resort amenities (accommodations include breakfast). All accommodations are clean, modern and in beautiful eco-friendly settings.
Please note that although not mandatory, consideration should be made to securing protection against malaria when travelling to Honduras.
If you are not able to make this trip, you can still participate by providing donations for us to take. Clothing in good condition, shoes, baby products, batteries, flashlights are all useful in this poor rural community. Cayman Airways allows each passenger to check two 55lb suitcases so with the number of us already booked to go, we will have plenty of suitcases to fill!
If you require any further information regarding this trip please contact me, I would be happy to assist.
