86th Waterton Glacier International Peace Park Assembly

The Waterton Glacier International Peace Park Association was founded in 1931 by Rotarians from Canada and the United States. Nearly 100 members from clubs across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Montana established the Peace Park idea to celebrate the long-lasting relationship of peace and goodwill between the two nations. Authorized in 1932 by the U.S. Congress and Canada’s Parliament, the peace park designation combined the 203-square-mile Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada with the 1,600-square-mile Glacier National Park in the United States. Each September the Waterton Glacier International Peace Park Association (WGIPPA) hosts a goodwill gathering at the peace par; a tradition now unbroken for 86 consecutive years.

Members of Rotary clubs from across Kalispell, Montana are working together to host the 86th assembly of the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park Association’s Hands Across the Border event which is scheduled for September 21-23, 2018 and will take place at the East Glacier Park Lodge, in East Glacier, Montana.
