Rotary Road Trip: Estancia’s 30th Annual Punkin’ Chunkin’Saturday, October 17, 2026 You haven’t truly experienced autumn in New Mexico until you’ve watched a pumpkin fly! Join fellow Rotarians for a road trip to support the Rotary Club of Estancia’s 30th Annual Punkin’ Chunkin’, one of our district’s most entertaining fall traditions — and a fundraiser supporting educational scholarships for local students. Follow the Estancia Rotary Punkin’ Chunkin’ Facebook page for event updates, photos and additional information. Teams bring an impressive assortment of homemade launching machines — including trebuchets, catapults, slingshots and pumpkin cannons — to see who can send a pumpkin the farthest. Spectators can enjoy the competition, vendors, food, a pie-eating contest, exhibition launches and plenty of small-town New Mexico fun. Schedule Highlights
Admission$5 per person Door prizes will be announced throughout the day — you must be present to win! The Punkin’ Chunkin’ grounds are located approximately 1.5 miles west of Estancia on NM Highway 55. Santa Fe Rotary Road TripWe’d love to make a Santa Fe Rotary outing of it! Watch for carpool and departure details as we get closer to the event. While we’re in the area, the group may also include a visit to Manzano Mountain Retreat, the venue used for District 5520’s RYLA program. Come support a fellow Rotary Club, help fund scholarships for New Mexico students, and experience one of the more delightfully unusual ways Rotary serves its community. Celebrating Our Pancakes on the Plaza Grant Recipients + Painting for Polio AuctionEvery stack of pancakes served on the Fourth of July helps make a lasting difference in our community. Join us for a special Rotary meeting as we celebrate the nonprofit organizations selected to receive funding through Pancakes on the Plaza, Rotary Club of Santa Fe's signature annual fundraiser and one of Santa Fe's most cherished Independence Day traditions. World Polio DayEvery year on October 24, Rotary members around the world recognize World Polio Day and celebrate the extraordinary progress made toward eradicating one of history's most devastating diseases. Since launching PolioPlus in 1985, Rotary and its partners have helped reduce polio cases worldwide by more than 99.9%, protecting billions of children and bringing the world closer than ever to a polio-free future. But the work isn't finished. Rotary Club of Santa Fe is proud to be part of this historic global effort. Our 2026–27 PolioPlus fundraising goal is $2,500, and this October we'll mark World Polio Day with our own Painting for Polio tradition. On Wednesday, October 21, Rotarians will gather to turn blank canvases into original works of art in support of PolioPlus. The paintings will be auctioned during our Thursday, October 22 Club meeting, helping raise funds toward our local PolioPlus goal just two days before World Polio Day. From a paintbrush in Santa Fe to vaccinations around the world, every contribution moves Rotary closer to a goal generations have worked toward: End Polio Now. |
