Salida Sunrise Rotary Gives 2020

Salida Sunrise Rotary are People of Action!

We're Over 1/2 Way There!
Thank you
All Rotary Members ... past and present!
The Chaffee Home and Garden Show – our primary fundraiser for providing scholarships to students and grants to nonprofits – had to be cancelled. Yet our local students and nonprofits need our help more than ever, so we need to find new ways to replenish our coffers so we can continue to support them.
Salida Sunrise Rotarians are also people of creativity and caring. That’s why we’ve put together the Salida Sunrise Rotary Gives 2020 (#SalidaSunriseRotaryGives2020), with a goal of raising at least $12,000.
It’s simple – we’re asking Rotarians and those in the community who have the means to give to the Salida Sunrise Rotary Fund, our 501(C)3 nonprofit that distributes funds for scholarships and grants.
You can donate quickly and easily via the Paypal button on the right.
Or ... if you prefer to send a check, please use the following address:

Chaffee Home & Garden Show … and COVID 19

The Event That Wasn’t

The weekend of April 4 & 5 was to be our 8th annual Chaffee Home & Garden Show.  While it would have been a perfect weekend for our annual event because there was NO snow, due to the current COVID 19 threat, this year’s show was cancelled.
It was a hard decision to cancel this great community event as everyone in our area looks forward to it every year. But the decision was made easier due to the County Commissioner’s cancellation of all meetings and events in county facilities due to COVID 19.
We now have 25 wonderful vendors who have applied their deposits or full payments to the 2021 Chaffee Home & Garden Show.  A few vendors have also donated a portion of their booth payment this year to the Charitable Fund to be used for scholarships and community grants.  A complete list is below, and we’ve included a link to their websites to show our appreciation.
The anticipated $30,000 in proceeds from this year’s show would have been turned over to the Charitable Fund to be used as Scholarships and Community Grants in 2021.  Now, it appears the amount our Charitable Fund will have available for the Scholarships and Community Grants for 2021 is greatly reduced.  A Fundraising Strategy Committee has been developed to look at other fundraising ideas for this year, and we will let you know once some decisions have been made.
In the meantime, if you or anyone you know would like to donate to the Charitable Fund, you can send a check to Salida Sunrise Rotary Charitable Fund, PO Box 1044, Salida, CO 81201.  And, don’t hesitate to thank one of the Vendors listed below for their generosity during these times.
And don’t forget to mark your calendar now for next year’s 2021 Chaffee Home & Garden Show on April 10 & 11, 2021.

Welcome to Salida Sunrise Rotary!

The Salida Sunrise Rotary Club was started on August 4, 2011.  It is the second Rotary Club in Salida, Colorado making the total number of Rotarians in our community of over 100!  We focus on service to local youth, the environment and international service.

Our club meets weekly on Wednesday mornings.  We gather over coffee from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at Snow Angel Bar & Grill which is located at the Salida Golf Course (404 Grant Street, Salida, Colorado).  Everyone is welcome; you do not need to make a reservation.  If you have questions, feel free to call the current Club President or Club Membership Chair (See Home Page for contacts).  Or visit the link on this website to find out how you can join the Salida Sunrise Rotary Club!

In addition to the Four Way Test we all "Think Say and Do" ... we know how to have fun! Every year we participate in the Salvation Army Bell Ringing and our members love it! We also participate in other Community Service Projects like Habitat for Humanity, Junior Achievement, the School Garden, and Central Colorado Conservancy Projects.  For the past four years, we participated in the Imagination Library Project which brings books to local children from the ages of new born to five years of age.

We raise funds for these projects as well as Scholarships for college-bound students and Community Grants to non-profit organizations through our very successful Home and Garden Show (held in April each year), and in 2018 we started a new fundraising event called the Lucky Ducky Race.

Rotary International was the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.
