Due to a Family fundraising day for a terminally ill child, our rostered BBQ at Mill Park Bunnings for the 6th December has been rescheduled for THIS SATURDAY. So none on the 6th December.
If you are not attending our meeting this Wednesday could you email or phone me on 0421 077 858 if you are available to help. Saturdays are much busier than our Friday BBQs and more enjoyable interaction with the public.
Wednesday 19th November 2014. 12.30 for 1.00pm Greensborough Hotel Bistro
Six students from each of Greensborough and
Montmorency Secondary
Colleges are selected annually to
receive these awards.
The students are selected on their
academic capability together with
their individual contribution to the
school community as a whole.
These annual awards are made to
honor two past members of the
Rotary Club of Greensborough for
the individual contributions each
made to the youth and the
community.
George Upton was a dairy farmer from the area, nominated for membership to Rotary by Tom Vickers.
He was also nominated and served for 23 years on the Diamond Valley Hospital Committee.
George was Shire President and, as the late Tom Vickers put it . . . “he was a totally reliable and very straight man, one
whom you would be proud to have as your friend
Kevin Gillespie was a very successful furniture retailer in Greensborough for many years. Kevin was a man totally committed to the youth of our community, Rotaract being one of his major priorities, the Rotaract folk loved him . . . he never missed one of their meetings. He was also an ardent worker and supporter of the Swimming Club, where again youth encouragement was always evident.
Each year the selected students are invited to receive their coveted award together with two of their teachers.
Their parents are also welcome to attend’ and so support these young achievers.

Ted Egan’s new book is The Anzacs: 100 Years On in Story and Song (Wild Dingo Press, 2014).
This book is not a glorification of war, nor of the patriotism that led the Anzacs to fight in World War 1. It is a recognition of the lives lost, the anguish caused, the sacrifices made. In his superb commemorative book, Ted also puts forth a unique blend of the Anzac story with 20 relevant songs––most composed by him.
This book is a triumph for Ted, who was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for “contributions to the literary heritage of Australia through song and verse”. He was awarded Territorian of the Year in 2000, appointed Administrator (Governor) of the Northern Territory from 2003-2007 and was recently listed amongst Australia's National Living Treasures by the National Trust of Australia.
Ted will be talking about the book, and performing the songs he wrote at Greensborough RSL on Wednesday 26 November • 7pm - 9pm. This is a FREE event! but RSVPs are essential. We hope to see you there!
