Investing in Youth, Building Future Leaders
The Rotary Club of Edmonton Northeast believes that today's youth are tomorrow's leaders and potential Rotarians through partnerships with M.E. LaZerte High School, Concordia University Edmonton and the Northern Lights Rotaract Club. We are committed to helping young people develop leadership skills, build confidence, and become engaged citizens through scholarships, leadership experiences, and personal development opportunities while learning the value of “Service Above Self”.
Our club proudly supports a variety of youth programs, including:
- Jeff Darnell Scholarship – Recognizing and supporting students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement.
- Concordia University Scholarships – Helping students pursue post-secondary education and reach their educational goals.
- Human Rights Camp – A one-week national program held each summer in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where students from across Canada explore human rights, social justice, diversity, reconciliation, and global citizenship through hands-on learning and dialogue.
- Adventures in Citizenship Camp – A one-week program held each spring in Ottawa, Ontario, bringing together students from across Canada to learn about Canada's parliamentary system, meet elected officials, and develop a deeper understanding of citizenship and public service.
- RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) – A one-day leadership conference in the Edmonton area, bringing together Interact Club leaders from across Rotary District 5370 to develop practical leadership skills, exchange ideas, and prepare for leadership roles within their schools and communities.
- RYLE (Rotary Youth Leadership Experience) – A four-day leadership camp held at Camp Nakamun near Busby, Alberta, where high school students develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and community-building skills through experiential learning and outdoor activities.
- RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment) – A four-day personal development camp held at Teen Time Ranch near Dapp (north of Westlock), Alberta, designed for youth ages 14–18 to build self-confidence, communication skills, resilience, and lifelong friendships.
Through these opportunities, Rotary Club of Edmonton Northeast invests in young people by helping them develop the skills, confidence, and values they need to succeed in school, their careers, and their communities. Our goal is to empower youth to become compassionate leaders who make a lasting difference both locally and around the world.
