Interact clubs are making a positive difference in schools and communities around the world. Leaders of sponsor Rotary clubs and districts should make sure their Interact clubs get the recognition they deserve by verifying that they qualify for a Presidential Citation.
First, ensure that the Interact club status is active in Rotary's database by checking the Listing of Club-Sponsored Organizations report in Rotary Club Central. If a sponsored club is not listed, submit the Interact Club Certification Form by 1 March.

A new email purporting to be from Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith is targeting Rotary members. The email falsely claims that members can become End Polio Now ambassadors if they email club information to a Gmail address within 48 hours.
The fraudulent email has the subject line “BECOME AN END POLIO AMBASSADOR” and is sent from a fake email address.
This is a scam. Rotary staff is working to resolve the issue. Avoid being the victim of scams by deleting any email that appears suspicious.

Jeremiah Basuric, Mustard Seed Community Engagement Co-ordinator, pictured, gave a very inspiring talk on Tuesday, about the many programs that they provide for the community.
He spoke about how they try to meet the needs of people as well as help them develop their individual gifts. They are located in central Edmonton, as about 90% of the homeless in Edmonton live in that area. They try to inspire a feeling of belonging and sense of worth through their many programs.
Approximately 95% of their funding comes from private donors and sponsors such as ourselves. As Ken Sutley suggested, and Hank Williams Sr so eloquently put it, he gave us a 'picture from life's other side'.

They run a day shelter and coffee house that gives out about 1,000 cups of coffee a day, and also provide an evening meal for about 300 people each night.
Their evening programs aim to provide a safe place for people to come and enjoy time and build self esteem through offering Karaoke on Tuesdays, an Art program on Thursdays, movies on Fridays and watching Hockey Nite in Canada on Saturdays. They have a sewing session on Mondays where people can repair their belongings and a Food Bank on Wednesday nites.
They also offer children's programs, gardening programs and many other social opportunities for the residents of the area. He also spoke about the great need for affordable housing in Edmonton.
We received a letter of heartfelt thanks from Kiva for helping them to reach some special milestones for 2015.
With our club donation of $3,200 we supported 128 loans in 28 countries in 2015.
Overall Kiva provided loans for more that 320,000 people in 2015. Their lending community surpassed 1.3 million lenders in 192 countries. They also celebrated their 10 year anniversary and welcomed a new CEO, Martin Tschopp.

We received a letter of thanks for our support from Sasha Omelchenko, based in Kiev, Ukraine. For the past ten years their mission had conducted children's camps at Mercy House in Crimea for children from the Chernobyl area.
Unfortunately, due to the seizure of Crimea, this is no longer possible, however they have been able to provide for families living in wartorn areas of eastern Ukraine. Families have received clothing, food, some financial help, and the children have received toys, coats, blankets and beautiful Canadian back packs filled with school supplies.
They ask that we remember the Ukraine in our prayers.
my name is Lukas and some of you may have met me in 2008/2009 when I was a Rotary Exchange Student in Fort St. John.
Since then I have studied Pharmacy back in Germany and as part of my mandatory practical year at the end of my studies I will be working at the Drug Development and Innovation Centre at the University of Alberta for six months, starting May 1st.
Because of this I am right now looking for a room or apartment from April 29th until the beginning of November. I would be very grateful for any help, so if anyone at your Club or someone you know has a room for rent that is either not too far from U of A or has a good connection there via public transport I would be very interested - my budget for rent is about 600 $ per month.
