The Wheelchair Project Indonesia 2012 is on schedule, on the financially correct course and distribution will start in May 2012.

Thanks to the contributions of several individuals and 10 Rotary Clubs in District 5370, we have now over $ 25,000 committed.

Last week the Rotary Foundation Team of District 5370 recommended that the District match these funds dollar for dollar.

By Thursday (December 15, 2011) I will have submitted an application for a $ 25,000 grant from the Community Initiatives Program (International Development) from the Government of Alberta. This means that we will have a minimum of $ 50,000 and a maximum of $ 75,000 to provide wheelchairs to people in Indonesia who cannot afford them. The wheelchairs will be provided by Wheelchair Foundation Canada and will be manufactured in Indonesia, which obviously helps keeping transportation costs to a minimum. The first group of wheelchairs will be ordered in February 2012 for delivery in May 2012. Saturday May 12, 2012, is confirmed as the day we will be distributing wheelchairs in Yogyakarta, Java.

If you are planning to attend this distribution (the weekend after the RI Convention in Bangkok), please contact me so I can provide you with details as they become available.

Thank you all for your participation, contribution, interest and support for another successful wheelchair project.
