J Percy Page Interact Club
Posted by Vi Hughes on Dec 21, 2016

Our meeting on Tuesday was highlighted by a short talk from Sophie, Selma and Lu, from the Strathcona Rotary sponsored J Percy Page Interact cCub.
They gave us a brief update on what their club has been doing over the past year. Since September, they have held two fundraisers, a Halloween event that featured a horror movie accompanied by pizza and pop, and a recent sale of Candy(cane)grams for Christmas. They have a bake sale planned for the New Year. They have also visited Ronald McDonald House to provide a meal for residents there twice this fall and have two more visits planned for next spring. In addition, they have made visits to help out at Hope Mission and to visit the Allen Gray long term care facility. Many of their members also took part in a bikeathon to raise funds for Shelterbox Canada.
Sophie thanked our club for sponsoring her to attend a Rotary youth leadership conference in New Brunswick. It gave her the opportunity see how much impact Rotary can make in the community.
Selma thanked our club for sponsoring her to attend a Seminar on International Affairs here in Alberta, where she had an opportunity to learn how people from all walks of life can make a difference in the lives of other people. All three ably answered several questions put to them by members of the audience.
