This past week we heard from Bruce Hobin, from the District 5370 Membership Committee. He came to tell us about this year’s District 5370 membership drive, ‘Get to Know Rotary’, that will take place on 15 April at the ATA Building Auditorium 11010-142 St NW (with access off 142 St and McQueen Road/109B Ave.) from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. It will be an opportunity for anyone who would like to know more about Rotary in the Edmonton area to find out more about the various clubs in the Edmonton area, what local and International projects they do, where and when they meet and what types of social occasions they have. He said that they have obtained some conditional funding from Rotary International for this membership event so there will be finger food and refreshments at no cost, as well as a cash bar. Parking is plentiful and free and there is lots of room for each club to have a display table.
They are asking clubs that wish to attend to bring at least two new prospects per club member attending. They are charging each club one hundred dollars for the club display table and ask that they spotlight one local project and one International project that their club does. They hope that this will give people a chance to mingle and check out the various clubs in the Edmonton area and what they have to offer.
