Weekly Meeting Highlights - July 22, 2026 | The Rotary Clubs of Deer Park, Pasadena and La Porte joined together on July 22, 2026 to hear from Rotary District 5890 Governor Camille Hamilton. Thank you, Camille, for the inspiring message, and thank you to La Porte ISD for hosting us at the beautiful Legacy Complex. They had a welcome message on their stadium board with Savannah's Bakery for lunch. We got a photo of most of the attendees from DP Rotary but missed one or two. Thanks to everyone who came out for this multi-club DG visit. |

Wednesday, July 8, 2026 - The weekly meeting for Deer Park Rotary was their Annual Day of Giving. It was held at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center. The event is where Rotary gives back to the community's non-profits with the money raised from Bubba Bingo in May. This is a great day to be able to give back to Deer Park. President Elect Jennifer Domingez and Vice President Justin League presented the checks to the recipients. Message from Justin League: Because of Bubba Bingo, we gave out checks to 35 different charities/organizations/programs totaling $100,000. Add that to our 30 awarded scholarships this year for $45k and we are getting close to $150k so far. Then with purchasing show animals at PLSR, sponsoring golf and fishing tournaments, helping with community projects and other needs we will give back close to $200k this year. If you have a hand in Bubba Bingo at all, I want to personally thank you. Whether you sponsor, bid, buy, volunteer, cook the food, etc we are able to do what we do because of the role you play. Here’s to 2026 and let's make 2027 even bigger and better.

June 10, 2026, was the last in person meeting for the outgoing President, Marshall Shepherd. Due to bad weather and our annual installation banquet, we did not have weekly meetings on June 17 or June 24th. Thank you for your time served as our president for the 2025-2026 Deer Park Rotary term. Your time was "impactful".

Congratulations President Shepherd

For the past six years, Deer Park Rotary 5890 has had only a single fundraiser called "Bubba Bingo". On May 1, 2026, it was held in the City of Deer Park's new Jimmy Burke Activity Center (JBAC). No longer were there two separate rooms divided by a wall, the new JBAC is all one ballroom which held that night around 1,200-1,300 people and we exceeded our expectations on money raised. Deer Park Rotary participates in City of Deer Park's Student Government Day each year. It is a great collaboration to help guide students through understanding government. The students are assigned positions in city government and spend the day touring city facilities. They have lunch with Deer Park Rotary and then finish their day with a mock City Council meeting.

July 9, 2025, was one of our Rotary Club’s favorite days of the year. Because we were able to hand out $$$ from the proceeds of Bubba Bingo. We want to thank each and every sponsor who supports Bubba Bingo. In just 5 yrs, Bubba Bingo has profited $630k! With that money we are able to fund scholarships, community projects, and hold our Annual Day of Giving. We keep making it bigger and better each year. We still have tables available for 2026 Bubba Bingo, scheduled for May 1, 2026, at the new Jimmy Burke Activity Center (JBAC).

Rotary International is the world's first service club organ ization, with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.
