Second Harvest Food Distribution in Cupertino
Sep 03, 2026 7:45 AM - 9:30 AM

Rotary Project with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley

Cupertino Rotary is partnering with Second Harvest for their Cupertino farmers market-style free grocery distribution. This hands-on Community Service opportunity allows you to make a direct, local impact by helping distribute fresh, nutritious groceries to neighbors facing food insecurity.

📍 What: Second Harvest Farmers Market-Style Grocery Distribution
👥 Who: 8-10 volunteers needed per shift
📌 Where: Cupertino Union Church, 20900 Stevens Creek Blvd
🕖 When: 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month,  7:45 – 9:30 AM (on 3rd Thursday, if you can arrive at  7:30 AM, we need a few people to help bag frozen chicken)

Volunteers help set up and assist clients as they select their groceries in a Farmers market-style layout (and tear down afterward).  Friends/family (age 16+) are welcome!

Why This Matters:
Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is one of the largest food banks in the country, serving hundreds of thousands each month. Cupertino Rotary already indirectly partners with Second Harvest through our projects with Hunger at Home, West Valley Community Services, and De Anza College. This is our chance to partner directly—and right here in Cupertino.

Sign-ups are needed at least EIGHT days in advance. Here are the sign-up links for all the sessions July-Dec 2026:

Hunger at Home
Sep 07, 2026 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM

Join fellow Rotarians in providing a week's worth of food to Silicon Valley residents at the Hunger at Home drive-through food distribution event. We are looking for 14 volunteers to help out on the first Monday of each month. Each event typically distributes food to 325+ families.

When: September 7, 2026 from 8 am to 10-30:00 am;

Where: San Jose Flea Market located at 1411 Mabury Rd, San Jose. (enter via the Mabury Rd entrance, not the Berryessa Rd entrance)

What: Combine food items into bags/boxes for distribution, loading food into the vehicles.

How to Register: Email Diane King (dianeking1@gmail.com); Diane will send the list of volunteers to Harvest at Home and will organize carpools.

About this Project (our “Why”): Recent surveys show that 37% of families in Santa Clara Country are struggling from food insecurity while 40% of food goes to waste. Hunger at Home rescues food destined for our landfills by partnering with large organizations (Levi’s, SJ Convention Center, Shoreline, hotels, grocery stores, Sysco, etc) and repurposing the food collected to families in the community. So, not only are we feeding the hungry but we are reducing methane and CO2 emissions by diverting food from our landfills.

Nov 02, 2026 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM

Join fellow Rotarians in providing a week's worth of food to Silicon Valley residents at the Hunger at Home drive-through food distribution event. We are looking for 14 volunteers to help out on the first Monday of each month. Each event typically distributes food to 325+ families.

When: November 2, 2026 from 8 am to 10-30:00 am;

Second Harvest Food Distribution in Cupertino
Nov 05, 2026 7:45 AM - 9:30 AM

Hunger at Home
Mar 01, 2027 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM

Join fellow Rotarians in providing a week's worth of food to Silicon Valley residents at the Hunger at Home drive-through food distribution event. We are looking for 14 volunteers to help out on the first Monday of each month. Each event typically distributes food to 325+ families.

When:  Monday March 1, 2027 from 8-11:00 am;
