The Youth Services Committee of the Cupertino Rotary is committed to serving the amazing young people in our community. We do this by working with our many partners to provide support and financial assistance, creating opportunities for our members to serve and interact with the younger members of Cupertino and providing opportunities for our youth to learn and grow into future leaders. Scroll down to see a list of our major activities. We are always looking for new ideas from club members to support our community, as well as members to help us deliver our programs. Join us to learn more at our meetings on the 1st Wednesday of each month (check the club calendar to confirm) or contact either of the co-chairs at any time to learn more.

Things we do:
- Interact - We sponsor three high school service clubs at Cupertino High School, Monte Vista High School and Lynbrook High School.
- The President's Winter Retreat (PWR) is a two day leadership program provided by the District Council of Interact 5170. The retreat is a great chance for our Interact leaders to meet and mingle with the other dedicated leaders within our district and participate in a series of fun and interactive workshops to further develop their leadership skills, gain inspiration from a keynote speaker, and share ideas and experiences with their peers.
- RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) - We offer a training program for high school students that encourages them to assume leadership roles. We help with a week-long RYLA camp in the Santa Cruz mountains.
- Winter Fest- We deliver ten tons of snow and make a holiday wonderland for children and young adults with special needs at VIA West (Camp Costanoan). Sledding, snowman building, crafts and caroling, all go well with the cookies and hot chocolate.
- Youth Speech Contest - We sponsor a club contest for our local high schools to compete in the district Richard King speech contest.
- AAUW Scholarships - We sponsor 2 deserving young women to attend the Tech Trek Computer camp at Stanford each summer.
- Gifts of Hope - We partner with WVCS to supply over 35 families (and children) with holiday gifts to enjoy the season.
- Dr. Seuss Reading Day - We promote the excitement and joy of reading to students in Cupertino schools by reading Dr. Seuss books to them, on or around his birthday, March 1st.
- Scouting - We are the charter organization for local scouting organizations (Cub Scout Pack 492, Boy Scout Troops 479, and 492, and Venturer Crew 479) providing support and guidance.
- Poetry Contest - We promote and sponsor a poetry contest for middle and high School students to promote academic achievement in the arts.
- WVCS Back to School Shopping - We provide financial support and volunteers to West Valley Community Services' Back-to-School Shopping program to ensure students have what they need to do well in school as the year begins.
- Y Cooking Classes - We provide support to the Y's monthly, healthy cooking class. Produce from the community garden is used to create an inexpensive but healthy family meal. These classes are taught on-line and live in the staff kitchen.
- Safe Routes to School and promoting alternative transportation - We support the Cupertino Safe Routes to School program at key school sites to encourage students to walk or ride to school safely and provide support for bike repair stations in our community to make it easer for young people to use alternative transportation.
- Partners in Community Service (PICS) - Working with the middle schools in our area, we provide an opportunity for students to research and learn about non-profits in our community resulting in grants to support their good work.
- AMASE - The Academy of Music and Arts for Special Education is a nonprofit organization founded in 2006. It provides enriching education in music and arts for children with special needs. Its mission is to develop a community for students, with volunteers and teachers, where they can explore their talents and potential through music and arts. Youth Services supports AMASE with a grant to help purchase instruments and art supplies for students with special needs.
- Spring Art Exhibit - The Spring Art Exhibit is held at the FUHSD District Office in the spring of each year and is open to the public. Teachers select their students’ best artwork for display and Rotary provides financial support.
