Alan is a member of the board for the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  He will be speaking on the relationship between the Boy Scouts and Rotary (Paul Harris and James E. West, the founder of Boy Scouts of America were friends), and also on the new Family Scouting program (coed Scouting).

Cupertino Union School District Superintendent Dr. Craig Baker was Superintendent of the San Carlos School District for eight years.  He was voted 2016 Superintendent of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) for Region 5. Dr. Baker has 22 years of experience in public education as a teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent in both the Pajaro Valley Unified and Redwood City School Districts.  Other career highlights include being the Executive Director of the Robert N. Noyce Center for Learning at The Tech Museum of Innovation and two years on the School Board for the Redwood City Elementary School District.
He received his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from the University of California Santa Cruz and his doctorate in education from the University of San Francisco​

Dr. Martha Kanter leads the College Promise Campaign, designed to increase college access, affordability, and completion in America’s community colleges and universities. She is also a Senior Fellow at New York University’s Steinhardt Institute for Higher Education Policy. She specializes in policy efforts to implement evidence-based interventions, financing models, and behavioral incentives to raise America’s high school and college graduation rates. From 2009-2013, Dr. Kanter served President Obama as the U.S. Under Secretary of Education, overseeing all federal postsecondary statutory, regulatory, and administrative policies and programs for the U.S. Department of Education. She lead the successful implementation of the Direct Student Loan program, resulting in a 50-percent increase in college enrollment for Pell grant recipients, growing from 6 to more than 9 million students. From 1993-2009, she was president and chancellor of the Foothill-De Anza Community College District. Her education career began teaching economically disadvantaged students in a church basement.

Erin Cooke, Sustainability Director, San Francisco International Airport

Erin Cooke’s full professional career, expanding nearly two decades, has focused on assessing how climate risks affect varied businesses, nonprofits and the publics they serve while building pathways to cut carbon and achieve resilient outcomes.  Currently, Erin serves as San Francisco International Airport's (SFO) first Sustainability Director, where she brokers sustainability and net zero investments across capital projects and develops and implements the Airport's Strategic, Sustainability and Climate Action Plans, including aligned annual reporting. Erin previously served the City of Cupertino as its first Sustainability Manager and, next, first Assistant to the City Manager working to oversee a portfolio of energy, water, and materials programs earmarked in the City’s first Climate Action Plan, including the launch of Silicon Valley Clean Energy, Safe Routes to School Program, Green Business Program, Regional Renewable Energy Procurement Project, Green Fleet Replacement Program, Silicon Valley 2.0 Climate Adaptation & Resilience Plan, Community Sustainability Committee, and more. Erin has also supported the diverse environmental-focused initiatives through her employment with the Conservation Law Foundation, Goddard Institute of Space Studies, National Park Service, New York Department of Environmental Conservation, The Nature Conservancy and The Canyon's Ski Resort. Erin is a LEED AP and earned a Master of Public Administration in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University and holds a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Erin is proud mama of two under four, a semi-tiny house remodeler/gardener, bike/train commuter, community organizer, and the narrator of kids storytelling App, Toontastic
