Our next official meeting is a breakfast meeting on Thursday 11 July which is our annual changeover at the Stamford which I hope that as many of you as possible can attend .
This coming Thursday 4/07 is not a rostered Coffee Conversation, however as the club has no official meeting this week those who are free are very welcome to meet at the White Picket Coffee House, 10 Stuart Road, Dulwich at 9.30am. Bring your full bottle bags and I will deal with them.
Our first evening dinner meeting at the Stamford last Wednesday 26 June was a great success with 18 in attendance including past member Dr Alan Gale and his wife Shirley, a recent recipient of an OAM. John W., Bruce and Fred presented a very comprehensive show of photos of their recent trip to Iran, Georgia, Armenia and Greece. Whilst there is a very large choice on the menu, it is unfortunately a little more expensive that the Ibis. Ordering the meal prior to 6.30pm is vital for the meeting to be able to run to time.
John K. and Katey have taken on the responsibility of organizing an agenda for our evening meetings when we don't have a guest speaker and if you have any suggestions please do not hesitate to contact them.
Last Wednesday evening, I reminded everyone of the following procedures for all our meetings at the Stamford:
It is now everyone's responsibility to bring their members badges each week.
It will be assumed that everyone is attending our breakfast and evening meetings unless I receive an email informing me otherwise.
If you are bringing a guest/s would you be kind enough to let me know please.
The hotel needs to know the weekly attendance numbers in advance and this is the best way forward.
Last Wed. I also touched on the subject of communication and reminded everyone that my weekly piece in the newsletter, "From the Presidents Pen", was currently the best method of reaching everyone.
Honorary member of our club and Past District Governor Tony Reade was admitted into the RAH last Tuesday evening and Yvette is hoping that he may be discharged this coming Wed. 3rd. July. You will find Tony on level 8EE, in room 48. On behalf of the club, we all wish Tony a speedy recovery and hope that life can calm down for Yvette.
Sadly, I was unable to attend the changeover of DG. David Egan who passed the baton to Jane Owens on Sunday 30th. June. However, Katrina, Katey, Kirsti and David Rowe were there representing Adel. Light. Katrina and Katey, on our club’s behalf, accepted the award for the club with the highest percentage of new members for the past 12 months from David Egan.
Just a reminder that RYLA week begins on Sat. 6th. July and the RYLA celebration function is on Wed. 10th. July which our club is co sponsoring with the Adelaide Club.
For the benefit of members, we will aim to give the Duty Roster a few weeks ahead - see below.
