PLEASE NOTE: We WILL be meeting on Thursday 2 June but due to our Changeover on Sunday 5 June, we WON'T be meeting on Thursday 9 June.
19 May 2016: As our guest speakers on the day we were fortunate to have our two Club-sponsored RYLA students, Nibir Chowdhury (centre) and Chelsea Macauley (right) as well as Erin McKellar (left) sponsored by the Rotaract Club of Adelaide City. They all spoke passionately about their time at the one week live-in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp for 18-25 year olds that was held in April 2016 and what they all individually gained from the experience. RYLA certainly has a positive impact on all the participants who attend. All three RYLArians said the camp was an ideal avenue to refine their skills, understand the viewpoints of others and explore wide ranging topics while sharing valuable experience with their peers under the guidance of dedicated team leaders. Nibir is finishing her biomedical science degree at Adelaide Uni, Chelsea is undertaking a degree in Business Logistics at UniSA and Erin is a jazz singer.
26 May 2016: President Elect Don Tindale was well organised for our Club Planning meeting just two weeks prior to our official Changeover on 5 June. Don engendered a great deal of discussion about potential projects that our Club could become involved in and which projects we keep undertaking from our past projects. An excellent discussion that will certainly be refined in coming months.
Photos from Sunday 29 May's BBQ at Bunnings Kent Town - the hard work of the morning and afternoon shifts netted us just over $700 towards Rotary projects:
Photos from the combined Quiz Night run by the RCAL and the Rotarct Club of Adelaide City. By all accounts this was not only a fun night, it raised just over $4,000 towards projects chosen by Rotaract and Rotary. Well done to Dean and Pam Sullivan for organising the night, to Quiz Masters Rob McLennan and John Wotherspoon, and to the Rotaractors for packing the Hungarian Club! Shots include the whole shebang of Quizzers, the Rotaractors, the hardworking Dean Sullivan plus balloon and, my favourite, some of our Rotarians and friends WITH Rob McLennan in the background trying out his Saturday Night Fever dance ala John Travolta (Rob, just thrust that left hip out just a bit more!)

5. Rotary's Insurance Policy
At the Adelaide Leading Rotary Now the question of age limits on Rotary's Insurance policy was raised during the Treasurer's session. The attachment in the District Dispatch details age limits for various components. For most local activities Rotarians up to the age of 95 are covered for medical expenses.
The main restriction for over 80 years is on the Travel Policy, we don’t except any person over the age of 80 to be doing community work overseas.

7. ShelterBox Supporters in or near Adelaide
Quote from the article in the District Dispatch from ShelterBox Trust.
"We’ve now helped provide shelter for more than 67,000 people in Nepal since last year. However, our work never stops. Disasters and conflict around the world mean that there are families in need of shelter 365 days a year. In Ecuador, communities have been devastated by another 7.8 magnitude earthquake – one measuring exactly the same strength as the deadly quake in Nepal"
Here is the link to the latest news story, which is about the anniversary of the Nepal earthquake and focuses on one of the people we were able to help: http://ow.ly/4n4fDM
