President's Pen

Last Thursday, our guest speaker was Margie Steffens who spoke on Community Dental Services, and who announced that she would like to join our club, and plans to attend our meeting this coming Thursday morning at the Ibis.

Two more guests attended last week’s Breakfast Meeting, Andy and Christine Van Der Merwe who arrived in Australia just three weeks ago from South Africa and they also hope to attend this week’s breakfast at the Ibis.

Sadly, I received a request from Don Tindale for immediate three months leave of absence from the club. I know that we all wish Don well with his ongoing health issue.

Richard Jarrett has very kindly agreed to take over Don's portfolio of Vocation for the remainder of this Rotary year.

On behalf of the club I also want to wish Katrina's husband, Vincent, a speedy recovery from a sudden illness that placed him in hospital.

This year’s RYPEN is on from 5 - 7th. April and applications close on 25th. March.

This year’s RYLA is from 6 - 12th. July and applications close on 31st. June.

Catherine House are holding a Quiz Night on Friday 29th. March at the Goodwood Community Centre and hopefully our club can put a table together.  Please let me know if you are interested.

World Rotaract Week this year is from the 11th to 17th. March.

The Board met last Thursday morning and agreed in principle on the following changes.

That the club will move from the Royal Coach to the Ibis Hotel.

That the club's meetings will in future be held as follows.

Breakfast on the 1st. and 3rd. weeks of the month.

Coffee Conversation on the 2nd and 5th. weeks of the month.

Evening Meeting on the 4th. week of the month.

Guest speaker, Margie Steffens

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.

Jokes Corner
Two labourers were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up.
A woman walked by and asked what they were doing.
We’re supposed to find the height of the flagpole,” said Chris, “But we don’t have a ladder.”
The woman said, “Hand me that wrench out of your toolbox.”
She loosened a few bolts, and then laid the pole down.
She then took a tape measure from their toolbox took a measurement and announced, “Six metres exactly” and walked away.
Bill shook his head and laughed, “Well, ain’t that just like a ‘Miss-know-it-all woman’" he said, “We need the height and she gives us the length!”
