This week we have a breakfast meeting on Thursday 27th February at 7.15 am at the Stamford Plaza Hotel. If you are unable to attend the meeting or will have guests attending, please email Fred Field at fieldfro9@adam.com.au or me at kmball@jelkamain.com or text me on 0402853929 by Wednesday lunchtime so that we can advise the Stamford Plaza about numbers attending.
We raised $1,130 for Club projects at our Superloop Adelaide 500 Car Race car parking fundraiser last weekend. Attendance at the event was reported to be quite low, down to levels not seen since the race started in 2003, and Burnside Council did not restrict parking on roads near the event as has been their practice. While we raised less money than in previous years, this is still a good fundraiser for the Club. Thanks to Di Lane for all your efforts in organising the event this year.
Last week, I attended the quarterly meeting of the Presidents of the Group 1 Adelaide City Clubs. Margie Steffens also attended the meeting. She introduced Club Presidents to the Community Outreach Dental Program located in Light Square in the city and raised awareness about the voluntary work carried out by dentists and dental students to assist Adelaide’s marginalised and vulnerable residents and the need for future funding for the program.

A very successful businessman had a meeting with his new son-in-law. "I welcome you into the family,” said the man.
“To show you how much we care for you, I am making you a 50-50 partner in my business. All you have to do is go to the factory every day and learn the operation.”
The son-in-law interrupted. “I hate factories. I can’t stand the noise.”
“I see.” replied the father-in-law, “Well, then you’ll work in the office and take charge of some of the operations.”
“I hate office work,” said the son-in-law. “I can’t stand being stuck behind a desk.”
“Wait a minute,” said the father-in-law. “I just made you half owner of a money-making industry, but you don’t like factories, and won’t work in an office. What am I going to do with you?”
