President's Pen

Petula Clark is performing in Adelaide on Friday 17th. May and last Friday I had the thrill of recording an interview with her, which will be going to air on Sat. am, 11th. May on Coast FM. An artist who has sold over 70 million recordings and still loves performing.

Did you read the lovely article about David Rowe in the Boomer section of the Advertiser on Monday 22nd April about him playing tennis with Viscount Althorp Edward John Spencer in 1954, featuring two pictures?

Last Saturday, Julie and Katrina attended a District Rotary Meeting, which now allows our club to apply for district grants in the new Rotary year.

On Sunday, David Riggall, Liz Tilley and myself did the bread run which is good fun and takes very little time.

Dean and Pam leave for Tassie on Tues. and Sally and I leave for the Kimberley on Wed. Julie Campbell has very kindly offered to fill in as treasurer and will also be the acting president on Thursday 16th. May.

This coming Thursday 9th. May there will be no meeting at the Ibis and as originally planned there will be a coffee conversation at the Velo, under the grandstand at Victoria Park at 9.30am.

Our next meeting is at the Ibis for breakfast on Thursday 16th. May, followed by a board meeting.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.

Jokes Corner

Smith climbed to the top of  Mt.  Sinai to get close enough to talk to God.
Looking up, he asked the Lord.. "God, what does a million years mean to you?"
The Lord replied, "A minute."
Smith asked, "And what does a million dollars mean to you?"
The Lord replied, "A penny."
Smith asked, "Can I have a penny?"
The Lord replied, "In a minute."
