President's Pen

This morning a group of us met Kym Pedler and his mate Peter at Catherine House to make a start on our project. Katrina and Don assisted them in measuring and marking out the layout. Commenced digging the eight holes required, cutting back some branches and removing some vegetation.

Using Vince and Katrina's ute, Vince, Bruce and myself made two trips to my daughter Kate’s home in Rostrevor to pick up 75 pavers which are now at Catherine House ready for installing. Katie and Sam kindly donated the pavers.

We finished off with a sausage sizzle on the Catherine House barbie at lunchtime.

Next Sat. 14th. we plan to commence at 8.30am and provide a sausage sizzle again.

A reminder that there is no meeting this coming Thursday 12th. as we have a group of ten attending the RYLA Celebration Evening on Wed. 11th at Hahndorf.

Our next BBQ. is at Bunning's at Mile End on Monday 16th. July.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the Truth?
  2. Is it Fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build Goodwill and better Friendships?
  4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

Affirmation

United in the spirit of Service we value truth, fairness and friendship; and we welcome the opportunity that Rotary gives us to contribute our talents and resources in support of others.

Rotary Club of Adelaide Light Mission Statement

To be recognised as the Service Club of Choice in the Eastern Precinct of Adelaide because we are a Friendly Breakfast Club that appeals to a broad range of busy people who want to make a difference to local and international communities.

Jokes Corner
A number of crows have been dying lately. One ornithologist linked their deaths to vehicles, whether it's them running into the vehicle, or the crows not moving out of the way.

An ornithologist for one university actually took it further, he wanted to know whether the majority of deaths were caused by trucks or by cars. The research showed that about 95% of the deaths were caused by trucks and 5% were by cars.

The study showed that most drivers in cars were actually able to avoid the crows, while trucks had trouble doing so.

This is because crows at the last second were able to yell out "Cah Cah" but no crow could yell out "Truck"
