We were fortunate last week to have Kyra Raznikov return to our club to add to her original talk on “A nuclear waste repository for SA” and it was a great reflection on Kyra and the interest garnered by her topic that we were again joined by members of the Eastwood Club. Her discussion on Thursday responded to questions from the floor such as “how safe is it to move nuclear waste across the oceans?” and “was the Citizen’s Jury innately flawed?”
Please remember to contact Di Lane with your Xmas Pudding and Cake orders as she requires all details by 17th November and next week will be the last meeting to put these in, as there will be no meeting Thursday 16th November as we will all be cooking a bbq at Bunnings, Mile End.
Christmas season is upon us and this year our celebration will take the form of a petanque evening and meal on Friday December 1st at the Petanque Pitch on Greenhill Rd., Unley. We are hoping quite a few Rotaractors from Adelaide City Rotaract Club with join us to contest the Rotary/Rotaract Sporting Trophy which was won at last year’s bowling , following a countback, by Rotary. We will all gather at 6.30pm for nibbles and some basic instructions of how the game is played, followed by a game with teams randomly selected from those present. At the break our meal will be served and this will lead into another game. Dessert may then be the highlight for some of us as presentations are made. Cost is $25 and a cash bar will be available and there is ample parking on Greenhill Road.
An invitation has been sent to all members and “Friends of Rotary” and I encourage you to bring partners, friends, children and grandchildren to make it a fun affair. Please register by paying Treasurer, Bruce McDonald, by 27 November as per the emailed flyer.

The combined Rotary Conference to be held in the Barossa Arts and Convention Centre in 2018 will feature a Rotary Showcase where Clubs, District and Rotary affiliated programs can display and issue materials to publicise their activities.
Clubs and Organisations are invited to apply for the allocation of Display Spaces at the Conference. The Convenor of the Rotary Showcase is PP Les Dennis (RC Regency Park) lesdennis@bigpond.com 0408813966. Because this is a combined Conference highlighting Coming Together, it is likely that there will be a heavy demand for available spaces.Convenors and key personnel are urged to contact Les to reserve a spot in the display area asap. The Conference commences at 1pm on Friday 23rd March with Registration open from 9.30am. The conference concludes at 1pm on Sunday 25th March.

2. Annual Golfing Tournament -
Australian Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians.
Australian Rotary Health is one of the largest independent funders of mental health research within Australia. ARH also provides funding for many other general health areas across Australia.
Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.
Rob Walters is working through the Australian Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians Inc. to present the 2018 Annual Golf Tournament at Murray Bridge, 8th to 13th April 2018. Any golfing Rotarians and friends who are financial members of an affiliated Golf Club and who hold a current Australian handicap or equivalent, can be a part of this exciting competition, to enjoy golf with many others, and make a much needed contribution to the above two organisations devoted to helping those at risk in our communities.
