Club members of the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise, just because we cannot meet in person during this time, does not mean that we cannot meet remotely. To this end, President Sandra and the club board of directors have decided to hold a remote club meeting next Wednesday, March 25th, at 7:00 a.m. to discuss "Strategies and Opportunities" going forward.
Work out technical difficulties before the call (connection, microphone, camera, speakers, etc.)
Decide who is leading the meeting
Introduce yourself
Put yourself on mute when you are not talking (this will avoid noise around you from interrupting the meeting (dog barking, etc.)
Turn off or cover your camera (especially if you are not dressed)
Pause during sentences
Do not interrupt until the speaker is finished. (The meeting leader will do the interrupting if necessary).
CLUB HAPPY HOUR BY ZOOM THURSDAY 3/26/20
Prepare your cocktail or pour your glass of wine and join the Club's Happy Hour at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 26th. We're going to try to do it by Zoom.
While we are staying home and socially isolating ourselves in an attempt to stave off the spread of COVID-19, it is important to stay in touch with each other to keep up our spirits. Club leadership hopes many of you will become Zoomers and join us at the Happy Hour. Information on how to join will be forthcoming.
COFFEE AND HELP FOR JHC
Sarah Junkin Woodard from Jubilee House Community (JHC), whom you met when she visited us a year ago, was supposed to travel to the U.S. on a speaking tour to raise funds for their farming cooperative in Nicaragua. Her tour, of course, has been canceled. Along the way she was going to sell bags of fair trade, organic Nicaraguan coffee. She is offering the coffee for a special price of $10 per bag (approx. l lb) plus shipping. She has 200 bags to sell, first come first served.
If you are interested, send an email to farmershares@gmail.com, add a cc copy to sarah@jhc-cdca.org so she can track how many bags have been sold, indicate how many bags you want whole bean or ground, mention you want the JHC-CDCA Special Sale Coffee, add your name and address. If you don't want to put your credit card number in the email, add your phone number and ask them to call you for the cc number. The coffee is very good and it will help support our friends at JHC.
CLUB MEETING BY ZOOM WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1
The next regular meeting of the RC of Santa Barbara Sunrise is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1 at 7:30 a.m. by Zoom. Perhaps we will even have a program speaker. Stay tuned.
DOLPHIN DIVE UPDATE
The Sunrise Rotary annual fundraising event, the Dolphin Dive, scheduled for July 11th, is currently being discussed with the possibility of rescheduling it for a later date. Watch for updates from the Dolphin Dive Fundraising Committee. Contact Dennis Johns for more details.
