Gary and Cheryl Jensen stopped in for a make up at the Rotary Club of Yeovil while traveling in south Somerset, England.
“Make-up” is a term applied to the process of getting an attendance credit for missing a regular club meeting. Vacations, business trips and work conflicts are just some of the reasons for missing meetings, but Sunrise members are responsible for making up for missed meetings by attending and enjoying other Rotary club meetings, participating in online Rotary meetings, or engaging in Club, District or RI sponsored events.
If you'll be on the road and want to find a club where you can make up, find one here.

SUNRISE ROTARY SUPPORTS LOCAL YOUTH TO MAKE PAWSITIVE IMPACT
The Community Service Committee has developed a partnership with C.A.R.E.4Paws with a $1,500 grant to support Paws Up for Pets which promotes compassion and accountability for animals, targeting elementary school children and Boys & Girls Club members in Santa Barbara County. Their goal is to empower local youth to make a difference by showing others that they care about animals and by inspiring empathy among friends and family members and in the community as a whole.
The Rotary Action Group for Peace produced a video, Peace Is.
What if we started thinking about Rotary as more than a collection of service clubs and started thinking of ourselves as a global peace building force? What if together we wage peace?
Volunteers needed to help Blessed with set-up, food preparation, and serving.

"This event is solely for the feel of the Nigerian culture here in Santa Barbara and I will be using this opportunity to raise money for a 33-day Train Tour going all the way to New York organized for exchange students from over 20 different countries."

Two very special awards of recognition occasionally are presented by the Trustees of The Rotary Foundation to Rotarians who render outstanding service to The Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service recognizes significant and dedicated service by a Rotarian to promote the programs of The Rotary Foundation and thus advance the Foundation's goal of better understanding and friendly relations among people of the world.
The second award, called the Distinguished Service Award, is presented to a Rotarian whose outstanding record of service to The Rotary Foundation is on a much broader basis and spreads beyond the district level and continues over an extended period of time. The Distinguished Service Award acknowledges the efforts of a Rotarian who has already received the Citation of Meritorious Service, for continuing efforts to promote international understanding.
Both of these select awards are presented for exemplary personal service and devotion to the Foundation rather than for financial contributions. No more than 50 Distinguished Service Awards are granted by the trustees in any one year and there is only one recipient of a Citation for Meritorious Service in any district each year. A recipient of the Citation for Meritorious Service is not eligible for nomination for a Distinguished Service Award until two or more years have elapsed.
It is a very proud distinction for any Rotarian to be selected for one of these high levels of recognition by The Rotary Foundation Trustees.

ROTARY PIN CHALLENGE - Week 46
Bees are some of the hardest working creatures on the planet, next to Rotarians. The world would be a much different place if bees (or Rotarians) didn’t exist. Bees are responsible for pollinating more than $14 billion worth of seeds and crops nationwide each year, mostly fruits, vegetables and nuts. Imagine how much good in the world Rotarians are responsible for!
I have challenged myself to wear my Rotary pin EVERY day. By doing this I hope to raise awareness of Rotary and Rotary's work. I invite all Sunrise Rotarians to join me in wearing a Rotary pin EVERY day.
