The featured speaker at this week's meeting is Kathleen Olson, our Assistant Governor and District Governor Designate, who will speak about Animal Welfare and Action. Come and join us for our usual fun!

Also, don't forget to sign up for the District Assembly coming up on April 6th. I erred in last week's Bulletin with the incorrect date (Only one person pointed that out and she's not even a member!). Our Club pays for five people to participate whether or not we send people or not. The Assembly is an excellent training opportunity for Rotarians of all experiences. This is for New Club Officers, Rotarians who want to network, develop relations with other Rotarians, learn from other Rotarians in our District, and newer Rotarians who would like to better understand the value and meaning of Rotary. Contact President Don and let him know you're interested.

The Scholarship Application is now live! Share the news with the students in the Lake Stevens School District. The Deadline is Friday, April 12th! We have two applications available- one for those who want to pursue higher education at a college or university, the other for those interested in trade, vocational or technical schools. Nutrition for Mental Health

Kendra Pinkleman, Chair of our Club's Program Committee spoke to us on Friday, March 15th about "Food for Thought", using food to support mental health. According to Hippocrates, "Let Food Be Thy Medicine and Medicine be thy Food." Kendra stated that diet is as important to psychiatry as it is to cardiology, endocrinology, and gastroenterology. She listed neurotransmitters in her discussion starting with Excitatory to Inhibitory to Modulating with a list in each category. Next she talked about anxiety, depression and ADHD and listed all of the most common causes.

Scholarship Application Now Available!

The 2024 Rotary Club of Lake Stevens Scholarship Application is now available! The process is done completely online. Click this link to get started. Students can choose to apply for the college and university scholarship or the vocational, technical or trade school scholarship. Students, please read the instructions carefully. Make sure you fully understand the questions and demonstrate in your answers that you have done your research. The deadline is Friday, April 12, 2024. Applicants are then selected for interviews and scholarships are awarded at one of our Club Meetings in later May. We will also present them to students at the Lake Stevens High School Scholarship Recognition Night. Click this link to get started and good luck!

Interact is a service club for youth ages 14-18. The name is a combination of the words international and action. We join Clubs in over 120 countries around the world. The global youth network is dedicated to community and international service. Every Interact Club project, great or small, has a lasting impact on society worldwide.
