This Week's Meeting
This week's meeting includes a presentation by our own Sam Low, who will update us on the 2024 Washington State Legislative Session. Sam is one of two State House Representatives of the 39th Legislative District of which Lake Stevens is part of. He will also let us know what's coming up in the future and how we can be a bigger part of the law making process.

My apologies to our speaker last week for using the wrong photo in last week's Bulletin.

The District 5050 Conference is coming up next week. There's still room for you. This year's Conference is very family friendly. There will be bowling on Friday evening that your entire family can enjoy and a service project on Sunday at Camp Korey! Read all about it at this link >> Click this link to find out more and register.

My apologies to our speaker last week for using the wrong photo in last week's Bulletin.

The Club's Scholarship Committee received more than 20 applications and are busy reviewing them. They will be possibly be narrowing the pool down to determine who they would like to interview later this month. We will be presenting the scholarships at our regular meeting on May 24th at the School District's Educational Service Center in the same room we hold our regular weekly meetings! This is one of the premier events of Lake Stevens Rotary's year.

The link to our YouTube Channel is now available on our website and our weekly bulletins. You can view recent online meetings. If you watch any of them, you can count it as a makeup. Just let our Secretary, Gary O'Rielly know.
Raising Dollars to Remove Barriers
Our guest speaker on Friday, April 19th was Elizabeth Michaud, Director of Membership at the YMCA Marysville. Elizabeth spoke to us last year and the Club donated $2,000 to the Y for their membership drive. This year, the theme is "Raising Dollars to Remove Barriers." This year's goal is to raise $210,000 for the Y in Marysville. Overall the goal in Snohomish County is to raise $1 million dollars.
The YMCA of Snohomish County is committed to ensuring everyone has access to their programs and services. Removing financial barriers is one of the important ways of the Y delivers on this commitment. Programs include Seniors Combating Isolation; Youth Development; the Power of Community and Child Care.

Marysville is the oldest Y in Snohomish County. The Youth Development Center located on the same property in Marysville will be turned into an Early Development Center in 2025. Cedarwood in Lake Stevens will be run by a different crew with an emphasis on youth development but there will not be a gym. Likely to open in 2025.
