Our guest speaker on Friday, April 19th was Elizabeth Michaud, Director of Membership at the YMCA Marysville. Elizabeth spoke to us last year and the Club donated $2,000 to the Y for their membership drive. This year, the theme is "Raising Dollars to Remove Barriers." This year's goal is to raise $210,000 for the Y in Marysville. Overall the goal in Snohomish County is to raise $1 million dollars.
The YMCA of Snohomish County is committed to ensuring everyone has access to their programs and services. Removing financial barriers is one of the important ways of the Y delivers on this commitment. Programs include Seniors Combating Isolation; Youth Development; the Power of Community and Child Care.
Marysville is the oldest Y in Snohomish County. The Youth Development Center located on the same property in Marysville will be turned into an Early Development Center in 2025. Cedarwood in Lake Stevens will be run by a different crew with an emphasis on youth development but there will not be a gym. Likely to open in 2025.
