The featured speaker at this week's meeting is Alex Wells, Proprietor of Dwellers Drinkery which will be opening on Vernon Rd in the building that used to house Penn Cove Brewery. Alex will share about the new business and tell us what a "drinkery" is.

Homage Aging and Disability Services. Our guest speaker, on Friday, April 4th was Amina Saracevie discussing the many services provided by Homage such as providing services for older adults in Snohomish County which started in 1974. Homage is one of the largest providers for older adults and people with disabilities. Homage provides critical services that help maintain health, independence and quality of life.
Each year, thousands of individuals benefit from Homage's core programs in food and nutrition, social services, mental health programs, minor home repairs, and transportation assistance.
Amina spoke about Senior Farmer's Market for seniors who qualify. Homage provides services in 9 different languages for multicultural programs. There are various group meetings each week for the different ethnic groups. Funding for Homage comes through donations and federal grants. Plus, Volunteer Services are meeting the needs of the communities. Connecting seniors with seniors, foster grandparents program and senior peer counseling program and there is a need for volunteer drivers are just a few of the services provided by Homage.
This year, there are 12 finalists for the Herald's Business Journal's annual Emerging Leaders award for 2025. One of the 12 finalists is Anthony Hawley, the Executive Director of the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank and a member of our Club. The winner will be announced at an event on April 8th at the APEX in Everett.
The Festival of Trees is an idea of one of our Club members. Christine Egelstad and her committee were looking for a new fundraiser to benefit the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank. One of our newest members, Cliff Kraushaar, Jr. receives his membership badge and kit from President Ron Rasmussen, on Friday, April 4th. Cliff has been in Rotary previously as a member of the Mill Creek Rotary Club. Cliff's parents are both Rotarians in Reno and have been for over 30 + years. Cliff stated that his parents have attended numerous Rotary International Conventions.

Jennifer Jones, the first female Rotary International President, is a Canadian communications executive who traveled the world in 2022-23 to advance Rotary’s work promoting peace and unity and embracing one another despite our differences. Jones is founder and president of Media Street Productions Inc., an award-winning media company in Windsor. She was chair of the board of governors of the University of Windsor and chair of the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce. She has been recognized for her service with the YMCA Peace Medallion, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, and Wayne State University’s Peacemaker of the Year Award, a first for a Canadian. Jones holds a Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) She has served Rotary as RI vice president, foundation trustee, director, training leader, committee chair, moderator, and district governor. She played a lead role in Rotary’s rebranding effort by serving as chair of the Strengthening Rotary’s Advisory Group. She is the co-chair of the End Polio Now Countdown to History Campaign Committee, which aims to raise $150 million for polio eradication efforts.
Ramesh Ferris, a Canadian polio survivor (originally from India) and a global advocate in the fight against polio. He has worked with Global Citizen, Rotary International, the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He has shared our Rotary End polio message with countless heads of state and other world leaders. In 2008 Ramesh hand-cycled 7140kms over 6months from Victoria, BC to Cape Spear, NL in program called Cycle to Walk to raise funds and awareness for polio eradication, education, and rehabilitation.
Gwen Jones is the creator and producer of the I’m A Rotarian podcast and Greeting from America on Rotary Radio UK. She is a veteran producer, radio personality, voiceover artist, singer, and actor with 30+ years of experience in communication arts. Established in October 2019, the IAR podcast has a growing international audience of thousands of listeners across the world that is growing everyday. The goal of the IAR podcast is to introduce the extraordinary people who call themselves Rotarians to the world, to share the incredible work they are doing as People of Action, and to foster stronger connections and friendships between fellow Rotarians. Interact is a service club for youth ages 14-18. The name is a combination of the words international and action. We join Clubs in over 120 countries around the world. The global youth network is dedicated to community and international service. Every Interact Club project, great or small, has a lasting impact on society worldwide.

Our regular Rotary Club Meetings are at the Lake Stevens School District Educational Service Center lower level Community Room located at 12309 22nd St NE. We start at 7:30 am.
