FUN Community Service Projects
Every year Fidalgo Island Rotary members come together and do a Sail Cutting Work Party at Cimarron Trucking Inc. down 34th Street in Anacortes. With production of boats up over 56% from 2016, we have our work cut out for us.  Members bring Exacto knives, some bring cardboard and their good cheer as we roll out over 2500 feet of sail material and cut out sails with pre-cut templates. Pizza & beer is usually the dinner of choice and maybe some James Brown playing in the corner. Either way, by the end of the night, the sails are done, our bellies are full and someone laughed so hard they pee'd their pants, that's just how we roll.
When it comes to wine, the Fidalgo Island FUN Club is there to help in any way possible. The Anacortes Spring Wine Festival is one of the biggest and best wine festivals in the Pacific Northwest held at the Pier One Transit Shed in Anacortes and hosted by the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce. This year's event was sold out at 1100 tickets allowing for VIPs to enjoy the festival an hour ahead of time.  Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success and we stepped up!  From setup to vendor liaison to backroom wine inventory, the FUN Club will help out with whatever is needed.  It was so nice to see fellow Rotarians helping out the wine vendors and filling up their ice buckets or replenishing bread baskets, everywhere you turned there was a Fidalgo Island Rotary member laughing at how busy and crowded it was.  It's ALWAYS a good time when your a part of the FUN Club. Cheers!
Join us June 3rd & 4th, 2017 at the Anacortes Waterfront Festival where we provide FREE wooden boats for kids to build and customize with their parents and grandparents. Thanks to Sierra Pacific, this event has been helping families create special memories with their little ones for decades and seems to be growing year after year.  If you would like to volunteer and have FUN with us, sign up and contact us at we would love to have you join us!
Fidalgo Island Rotary presents our annual Rotary Roundup Live Auction on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 at 5:30 pm located at the amazing  Swinomish Casino & Lodge in Anacortes. This fundraiser benefits local and international projects funded by the Fidalgo Island Fun Club. This years' Raise the Paddle is dedicated to the Anacortes Family Center who helps so many homeless families in the Skagit Valley. The rodeo themed auction will have attendees hootin' and hollerin' over silent and live auction items only available at this year's Rotary Roundup. Make sure to wear your favorite belt buckle, cowboy hat, and spurs for the picture booth, whiskey tastings, and some of the best darn food this side of the Cascades!
Tickets are $75 each that includes drinks, dinner, and fun camaraderie! Sponsorships are still available for businesses looking to support an amazing non-profit that does so much in our local Anacortes community. For ticket info contact Cowgirl Val Tibbetts at 360.708.3702 or email us at
