FROM THEIR WEBSITE:
OUR MISSION TotalLink2 Community helps young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities be fully included members of the North Shore community through employment, social opportunities, and lifelong learning.
OUR VISION The vision of TotalLink2 Community is for young adults with disabilities to be included, valued and contributing members of our communities.
TotalLink2 Community is a Northbrook-based nonprofit that helps individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities ages 18 years or older and their families in the north suburbs of Chicago. We offer a wide range of person-centered services that promote employment, independence, and strong social connections in our home communities. TotalLink provides career and vocational services including job development and placement through using a proven and innovative approach called Customized Employment; skill-based coaching; family coaching; life planning; educational opportunities such as learning labs; and recreational opportunities to individuals with disabilities. We also offer education and consultation services to educators, community partners, and other professionals.
We do this work because we believe in people with disabilities and the impact their contribution makes on a community. Community connections and meaningful relationships create a sense of belonging that benefits both people with disabilities and the communities to which they belong. Our programs are designed to get young adults with disabilities involved in their community and deepen and expand their social connections.
Sandy Frum is now managing our Rotary Club “speakers bureau.” Like many committees this one needs a helping hand. Getting a name for a speaker is easy – but coordinating, cataloging, and reaching out takes a bit of work! (ask Scott!).
We now have a club Gmail set up [NorthbrookRotarySpeaker@gmail.com] to allow for call for speakers, promotions, and a smooth transition when board and committee positions change. The email is posted on our website, and periodically on FB to reach potential speakers allowing inbound contact.
If you are tech task comfortable – can you help manage this email?
There is an automated reply set-up so potential speakers know we are on it:
“Thank you for reaching out with your speaker request! This email is monitored by a team of volunteers - so it make take us a bit to respond. PLEASE make sure your information includes all contact info name, email, cell phone etc. including availability for in-person (Northbrook) or zoom only (global) participation.
We appreciate your patience!
The Rotary Club of Northbrook Speakers Bureau committee”
As the tech helper – you will delete junk emails, forward potential speakers to Sandy, and forward emails that might be intended for other club committees. This should take no more than 15.6 minutes a week!! Please reach out to Sandy Frum if you are willing to commit to this task!
Wednesday, July 21 at noon - Join the World’s Largest Rotary Meeting via Zoom. Coordinated by the Paul Harris 711 Club, Rotarians from across the world will gather for information and fellowship. Contact Rick Thiernau for the Zoom link.

Barrington Breakfast is looking for clubs to collaborate on an initiative to sponsor a Bystander Training Session offered through Asian Americans Advancing Justice/Chicago. They’re hoping to find nine clubs to contribute $250 to co-sponsor, and then to participate in, a private training session. Barrington Breakfast is a newly-designated Peacebuilder club (by the Rotary Action Group for Peace), and has a very active Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Contact Suzanne Gibson or Maria Peterson with questions or to commit.
