Volume 118 | Issue 10| September 13, 2023

Wednesday, September 13, 2023

Speakers: Speaker: Dr. Keith Miles, Superintendent, SDL
“Supporting students who need the most support”

Dr. Miles became superintendent of the School District of Lancaster in July 2023, leading the 10,000-student district with 18 schools. Throughout his career, he has consistently sought out challenging and meaningful posts, starting as a teacher for seven years at a Title I high school in Oxon Hill, MD. He later served as high school principal in both Philadelphia and Camden, NJ, and Assistant Superintendent in Trenton, NJ. In all the places where Dr. Miles has served, he has worked to level the playing field by ensuring all students have access to critical resources and opportunities.

Dr. Miles attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C., receiving his Bachelor’s degree and double majoring in Spanish Language and Literature and Biology. After receiving his Master’s degree from the University of Maryland College Park, he returned to GW and received his doctoral degree in Educational Administration and Policy in 2018. In addition to his formal education, Dr. Miles completed a Principals Academy Fellowship, a Superintendents Academy, and an Executive Leadership Certificate program through Cornell University.

He lives in Lancaster.
