GUEST SPEAKER - CARLY MCDONALD

Lou Keogh introduced our guest for tonight, returning exchange student Carly McDonald.

Carly presented a talk about her year in Austria.

Carly spent her year in St Georgen Am Langsee, a small village of about 3000 people and stayed with the one family for her whole year. She enjoyed lots of adventures, hiking, shopping in Italy, etc.

The sponsor club was the Rotary Club of Klagenfurt-Lindwurm, an all male club of about 40 men. Carly wasn't involved in the club very much because it was all male.

Carly went to school at Bundesgymnasium Tanzenburg - about 500 students. A beautiful school.

The first student exchange camp was a German Language camp for 2 weeks. Carly also enjoyed a Euro Tour through Germany, France, Italy, Slovakia, and Austria.

She also had the opportunity to go snowboarding and skiing (broke wrist on second day so had to go home). The Forbes family visited, as well as Carly's own family. She was also able to catch up with Sarah Forbes during Sarah's Euro Tour through Austria.

Carly thanked everyone who made her Exchange year possible. "It was the best year of my life."

Carly fielded a number of questions from members about her experience.
