Greetings Rotarians and the wider Rotary family. Thank you for opening your eKNN today. I have no doubt you will keep returning, since it remains the true source of information on what we are doing in the Rotary Club of Kampala North—and always a rewarding read.
“Rotary thrives when every member stays informed, engaged and connected.”
Thank you for attending the Club Assembly last week. A lot was discussed and agreed upon. For those who may have missed the Assembly or would like a quick recap, you can read a summary of the proceedings here:
Member Story: Why I Became and Will Always Be a Rotarian
by Rtn. Asaph Ntengye-Ruhinda
This is my journey in Rotary—how I joined, why I remain committed, and why I believe I will always be a Rotarian. My introduction to Rotary occurred in 1988 while I was serving as a Grade One Magistrate in Mbarara, thanks to Counsel Tumwesigye (RIP). Later that same year, upon being transferred to Bushenyi, I began attending the Bushenyi Rotary Club.
Every week at RCKN, we sit next to people doing amazing things—but sometimes we only know half the story! This week, we shine a friendly spotlight on Rtn. Nelson Kahandi, whose professional life is a lot bigger than many of us realise.
Rotarians often do their biggest work far away from the microphone—but never far from impact.
Most members know Rtn. Dr. Daniel Ruwheza as the ever-cheerful Head of the Department of Law and Jurisprudence at Makerere School of Law. But did you know that Nelson also plays an important part in the same Makerere ecosystem?
By day, Nelson serves as Assistant Commissioner in charge of Human Resource Management at the Ministry of Local Government—a major leadership role in public service.
Arthritis refers to conditions that cause pain, swelling, and stiffness in the joints—the places where two bones meet, such as the knees, hips, fingers, shoulders, and spine. In simple terms, arthritis happens when a joint can no longer move smoothly or comfortably, making everyday activities more difficult.
It is also extremely common, affecting 1 in every 5 adults worldwide. Many people ignore early symptoms, assuming they are just part of getting older. Understanding arthritis helps us recognise these signs early and support healthier living within our Rotary community.
The Rotary Club of Kampala North hereby opens the call for nominations for the 2026/27 Board. Members are invited to submit eligible candidates for seven key leadership roles, in accordance with established Club election guidelines. This year’s process will be overseen by the Returning Officer and Election Officers to ensure transparency, fairness and full participation of our membership.
