Joshua Owens	Apr 23, 2026 12:00 PM	“Economic Development in the Galveston-Houston Region” ABOUT JOSHUA OWENS Joshua Owens is the Executive Director of the Galveston Economic Development Partnership. He graduated from Pepperdine University and received a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Tech. He served in the Peace Corps in Paraguay as part of his graduate studies, and upon his return to Texas worked as a regional planner with the Houston-Galveston Area Council with a focus on housing and economic development. In 2020, he became the Executive Director of the Wharton Economic Development Corporation in rural Wharton, Texas. He has been the Executive Director of the Galveston Economic Development Partnership in 2024.

She loves bringing to life ideas in clay and bronze. Her research and experimental work created in her a desire to bridge the gap between fine art and digital technology, and in doing so, she has created a niche for herself. Creating art, being an author, and sharing her journey through her coaching, mentorships, workshops, and lectures have fueled her life. Helping others to understand their potential feeds her soul. "When I was starting, all of my interests seemed scattered. But it is like I was weaving a tapestry and looking closely at all the threads. It is not until you rise and look at your life as God does, that you can see the big picture. It is the most incredible life ever. Our esteemed guest speaker this Thursday, April 16, is our Past District Governor, Sunny Sharma. PDG Sunny Sharma joined Rotary in 1985 to serve communities. He has been President of numerous Rotary Clubs, has served as a Rotary International District 5890 Governor, and has participated in several domestic and international service projects. He has been named “Rotarian of the Year” for District 5890, has received the "Citation for Meritorious Service," has received Rotary International’s highest award: “Service above Self,” and in 2026, he received The Rotary Foundation's “Distinguished Service Award” — its highest honor. Professionally, Sunny founded Sunbelt Medical Corporation in 1989 and serves as President and CEO. He is also the owner of Medical Tectronics, Inc.
