ABOUT MAYRA MARSHALL

Mayra Marshall is President of PATRONS for Bellaire Parks, the nonprofit that has partnered with the City of Bellaire since 2002 to build better parks, funded and built by neighbors. A longtime Bellaire resident and mom of students at Pin Oak and Lanier, she has served PATRONS since 2021, first as Vice President of Development and now as President.

Mayra spent more than 15 years in corporate learning and development and Human Resources, earning awards for her work at Verizon and, most recently, Educator of the Year honors from the Mortgage Bankers Association for her work at Greystone. She holds the SHRM Senior Certified Professional credential. For the past 20 years she has also been a small business owner, most recently as a Realtor and owner of Prints of Bellaire, a neighborhood apparel and print shop.

She brings those same skills to the organizations she serves. Beyond PATRONS, Mayra sits on the board of We Are Evergreen, is Vice President of Sponsorships for the Pin Oak Middle School PTO, leads sponsorships for Lanier Middle School, and last year helped the Mays PTO become a nonprofit. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.

PATRONS FOR BELLAIRE PARKS

Since 2002, PATRONS for Bellaire Parks has given more than $2 million to the City of Bellaire to close the gap in parks funding, from the inclusive playground at Evergreen Park to the outdoor reading space at the Bellaire Library. Mayra will share how PATRONS raises that money through events like Party at the Pavilion, Tents in Town, Wine & Tapas, and the Trolley Run, where recent gifts have gone, and how the new grant application process lets community groups bring their own park projects to PATRONS.
