Further to yesterdays Lunch time announcement this is just a quick reminder to confirm that the Sunset Sail has now been moved to Wednesday the 25th of May because there were a number of conflicts that neeeded to be avoided.
Sorry for the juggling but nonetheless I do hope we can have a good turnout.. 7 people have signed up already!!!! It will be a wonderful sunset sail with Red Sail Sports leaving from the beach at the Westin on Wednesday the 25th of May. There is a cash bar on board and it will be a great opportunity for some fellowship following the visit by many of our team to the District Conference. the cost is CI 35 per pesrson. I need to keep an eye on head count. i have booked 30 spaces but can expand if necessary but the sooner i know the numbers the better. We will send the invite on to Rotaract as well |

This year the Cayman Islands will join countless other countries in celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. On February 6th, 1952, Queen Elizabeth II first ascended the throne following the death of her father, King George the VI. Today, 70 years later, she is the longest ruling monarch in British history and the most travelled. Her historic overseas visits include two to the Cayman Islands in 1983 and 1994. The Cayman Islands will host a series of celebrations this year to recognize Her Majesty’s seven decades of service, including public events, community happenings and moments of reflection. The Cayman Islands will enjoy a four-day public holiday weekend: Friday 3rd June 2022–Monday 6th June 2022 (Friday and Monday being Public Holidays). |

On July 4th, 1959, the first written constitution for the Cayman Islands took effect. And that’s why the first Monday in July every year is now celebrated as Cayman Islands Constitution Day. It’s a public holiday that commemorates the creation of this remarkable document. However, that original constitution is no longer in effect as three more written constitutions have been created since 1959. This holiday is a day off for the general population, so businesses and government offices are closed. This holiday is also observed with several official political speeches and other events that highlight the importance of the country’s constitution. |
