Literacy and education are two key focus areas of the Rotary Club of Abaco. We are interested in pursuing grant funding from the Rotary Foundation for a project that will be meaningful and impact our community in a positive way. You may remain anonymous if you wish but please give us your best effort.

We have created an very short 3 minute online survey for educators, students, school admins, anyone involved in youth, education or literacy. Please take a few quick minutes to complete it for us.

The club is looking to identify a few key areas of greatest need in Abaco to work on a grant project for. For example a computer lab in a school that doesn't have one. Or maybe athletic equipment is more important. I personal thank you for doing this and as does the Rotary Club of Abaco.

Take the Pledge

Our Interact Clubs at St. Francis de Sales and Forest Heights Academy have begun a public awareness campaign to stop texting a driving! They've been circulating flyers to motorists, on billboards and in the media.

Thirty Years of Women in Rotary

On Monday, March 20, 2017 The Rotary Club of Abaco celebrated thirty years of women in Rotary. More specifically we celebrated OUR women. The Rotary Club of Abaco inducted the first two women Rotarians in the entire Bahamas in 1994. As PP Jo-Ann Bradley noted, while Rotarian men are "Supermen", the lady Rotarians are "Wonder Woman!"

Owanta's Pond Clean Up

Rotary hosted a Joint Community Service Project with Forest Heights Interact ST Francis Interact on March 18, 2017 to clean up and beautify the Owanta's Pond area in Marsh Harbour. A big "Thank You" to Rotary District 7020 Youth Chair Rema Martin and PP Tanya Woodside for joining us.

RYLA

The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) was held in Nassau Feb 24-26 at the Melia Hotel. Over one hundred and fifty students from The Bahamas and the Caribbean attended. Among that group, twenty Abaco students from the two local Interact Clubs as well as three chaperones attended.

We are pleased to congratulate our newest members who were inducted today. Ettamae Jones (center left) and Ruth Flowers (center right). The Rotary Club of Abaco is now considered a medium size club! Well done President Valerie and all the members who have sponsored new members in recent months.

2017 Golf Tournament

We held our annual Golf Tournament in January. Our biggest fundraiser of the year - it was a fun and successful event!

The Club Welcomed SIX New Members in November
