Rotary South partnered with the Canton Rotary club at Banquet West! Club members prepared and served a meal to approximately 85 adults and 30 children. We served a pasta hotdish we coined "Wacky Mac" and fresh corn-on-the-cob and cantaloupe. We also got to help a three-year-old celebrate her 3rd birthday. It was a great night of service and fellowship.

Sioux Falls Rotary South has planted a pollinator garden. This garden was developed as a result of a District 5610 grant which the club matched, and with in-kind support from Avera Health (space) and Harrisburg Ace Hardware (plants).  This annual garden is a part of a community garden plot near Avera Specialty Hospital on 69th and Louise that will support the health of those gardens by encouraging various pollinators such as the endangered Dakota Skipper for years to come.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Many members braved the heat to serve at Jazz Fest again this year. Volunteers allow this event to remain free, allowing anybody to experience great music. This is a wonderful community building event in Sioux Falls! 

As 2017 is fast approaching, Rotary South wrapped up 2016 with activity, service, and celebration. In early December we were visited by incredibly impactful programs and organizations such as Lutheran Social Services and The Teddy Bear Den. 

Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, and now #GivingTuesday. If you're like me, you may feel that your pocketbook has already been stretched this holiday season -- and it's not even December 1st. As you know, November is Rotary Foundation Month. We've been sharing with you all month long about the Rotary Foundation and its 100th year milestone of doing good in our world.

New Rotarians, established Rotarians, and a few family members joined together to serve at Food to You on Tuesday night. The club volunteered almost 50 hours of service to help distribute food to over 60 families. A bonus that night was the 12-pound ham that each family could take home to serve as part of their Easter dinner if they liked. 

This week, Rotarians from Sioux Falls Rotary South participated in Read Across America week at Cleveland Elementary School. Read Across America week coincides with National Read Across America Day held on March 2nd (also known as Dr. Seuss’ Day).
