New Rotarians, established Rotarians, and a few family members joined together to serve at Food to You on Tuesday night. The club volunteered almost 50 hours of service to help distribute food to over 60 families. A bonus that night was the 12-pound ham that each family could take home to serve as part of their Easter dinner if they liked.

Food to You is a perennial favorite among the club's volunteer events each year. In fact, Rotary South has been volunteering with Food to You since the winter of 2010 - just a few months after they were chartered as a club in October of 2009. In addition to volunteering their time, the club also donated about 200 cans of hearty soup to be included as part of the distribution that night. Ben Zimmer, the club's Service Chair, worked with a local grocery store to purchase the cans at a lower cost and also organized the club members in volunteering their time.

Rotary South is committed to volunteering in the community, and this service event was the first volunteer event for several of the eleven new club members that Rotary South has inducted this year. New Rotarian Maria Barnett said, "It was a great opportunity to volunteer with Rotary South. I really enjoyed serving the Sioux Falls community together, and getting to know my fellow Rotarians."

The club's next service event will be the big packing event for Kids Against Hunger. We hope you'll join us!
