Club Enhances Memorial Park with New Picnic Shelters
The Sedro-Woolley Rotary Club has made a significant contribution to the local community by completing the construction of two new picnic shelters at Memorial Park. These shelters are strategically located adjacent to the new park and splash pad that the city built in 2023, providing a perfect spot for families to rest and enjoy time together.
The project was driven by the vision of the 2023-2024 Sedro-Woolley Rotary Club President, Kristine Kilcup. Her goal was to create a shaded area where families could relax and take a break from the sun, enhancing the overall park experience.
The construction of the shelters was a community effort, with club members actively participating in several work parties. These sessions involved prepping materials for installation and a final work party to backfill the concrete around the base of the shelters. Their dedication and hard work paid off, resulting in a valuable addition to the park.
In addition to the labor, the Rotary Club also funded the materials for the shelters, contributing $15,000 to the project. This financial support, combined with the hands-on effort of the club members, demonstrates the club's commitment to improving the community and providing a better environment for local families.
The new picnic shelters at Memorial Park are a testament to what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared vision and purpose. The Sedro-Woolley Rotary Club's efforts will be enjoyed by residents and visitors for years to come, offering a space for relaxation and connection in the heart of Sedro-Woolley.
